Kitchen folly
I am beginning to think I should just stay out of the kitchen. In a previous post I mentioned tempering a saucepan about a week ago, when I forgot I had some water on, and the water all evaporated and the saucepan got extremely hot... well I nearly did it again several days later. I remembered it before all the water boiled away, but enough had gone that I had to refill it which was annoying. And another time I had a pie in the oven and I set the kitchen timer on the microwave for 50 minutes... at least I thought I did. Several minutes later I heard a noise and thought, "that sounds like the microwave". Evidently I had set the microwave for 50 minutes by mistake, and it was already pretty hot inside. I sure am glad I heard it before the whole thing exploded or melted or something.
I came across SorryGottaGo.com today. It's pretty cool, there's sound clips that provide excuses to get off the phone, like door knocks, beeping horns and boiling kettles as well as more bizarre things. I have formulated a plan to say weird stuff to telemarketers when they call, rather than my usual method of telling them to call back later and hoping they don't. Next time a telemarketer calls I will yell something utterly random, like "is this about that dolphin again? I've already fucking told you people, it was dead when I found it! Why would I want to eat a dolphin anyway? I don't even like seafood! I WILL NOT BE BLACKMAILED!!" and hang up.
