Wow

I just saw the Pink Floyd Experience...

Holy shit

It was absolutely mind-blowing. They did the full Wall performance, building an actual wall and everything, but interspersed it with Dark Side of the Moon! So it was like the ultimate Floyd experience. I'm still dazed from the sheer awesomeness, so I'll post more details later.

One more day

Only one more day until I see the Pink Floyd Experience. It's going to rule.

Other, more banal happenings in my life recently:

My sister broke my acoustic guitar. It was broken where the heel joins the body. It was pretty easy to fix with Araldite but she said she'd buy me a new one anyway. One of roughly equal value, that is... (about $30). I'm getting an awesome little mini-acoustic, like a ukulele but a bit bigger and with 6 strings.

I got an air-freshener for my car. I got "new car smell" because it is HILARIOUSLY INAPPROPRIATE for my 16 year-old car. Unfortunately it just smells like chemicals.

I finally upgraded my copy of Microsoft Office. Office 97 was getting a bit dated. Also, while I'm on the topic of pirated software, I got the Antares Auto-tune plug-in. In case you're part of the vast majority of people who wouldn't have a clue what that is, it's a plug-in for various audio software which automatically corrects out-of-tune notes if you are recording music. Good for my ukulele with its dodgy intonation.

Also my updating schedule of The Hallucinogenic Cookbook has gone a bit haywire, so maybe I'll just switch from updating on weekends to updating whenever I feel like it. Sorry, but that's just how I roll.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! part 2

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! (again!)

I'm seeing the Pink Floyd Experience! I rule. They're doing full performances of Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Sixth row from the front, too. Awesome.

And!: After a long hiatus for which I have no real excuse, I've done a new comic! Finally something to write home about.

Friday Awesome Friday

So things have been pretty cool lately. Me old china plates Kleff and Zeff came down to Sydney and we hung out and partied every night.

We saw a movie, Children of Men. It's an amazing film. It's made even cooler by the scene at Battersea Power Station, where a giant inflatable pig is suspended over the station. Go see it now. We also saw Saw III, which was crap. Pretty typical really; the first was great, the second was OK and the third was rubbish. They had a crap story and just piled on excessive gore. Some gore in a horror movie is expected but I don't really want to see half a head that's been blown off or a guy getting covered in pureed pigs.

My car's going well. I got a set of fluffy dice to hang off the rear view mirror. All in irony of course.

I got the re-cut and extended edition of Sin City yesterday. It came with a copy of the first comic too, which is awesome. I've read it already (I downloaded them all), but it's cool having a hard copy.

And I've switched this blog to the new Blogger Beta. Yay?

But! Why am I talking about such everyday topics when I could be talking about how, you know...

I SAW U2 ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!

And it was awesome. I went on Friday night with McLeff, who came down to Sydney for it. It was at Telstra Stadium. After getting a train to Olympic Park, then thinking we lost the tickets and realising several minutes later that they were in McLeff's jacket pocket, we made our way up (and up and up) to our seats. Luckily the seating is very steep so even though we were high up we had a reasonable view. The support act was Kanye West, which was lame.

I never realised just how huge a stadium like that is. When we got to our seats the other side of the stadium looked like a flat picture because the distance made perspective unnoticeable. It gave the place a sort of unreal quality, like a dream.

I've never been all that into U2, but I have to say they fucking go off live. I'm converted. In fact I'm listening to The Joshua Tree as I type this. I even would have bought a T-shirt if they weren't $45.

McLeff went again on Saturday. I would have too but the tickets were sold out, and he got his from a lady who was scalping a single ticket outside the Ticketek office. The ticket was for the mosh pit and he got pretty close to the stage. That would have been awesome.
